Psyllium Husk: the gut man!

Psyllium is a type of soluble fiber that passes through the digestive system without being absorbed. That is the main reason why it is commonly used as a gentle, bulk-forming laxative great aid for constipation or diarrhea, blood sugar levels, blood pressure, cholesterol and weight loss.

The amazing qualities are even better when the Psyllium is used in baking because it also ads body and texture to the food. Using psyllium husk in place of higher-carb ingredients helps keeping the carb count low and can potentially reduce the number of calories consumed. A single serving of psyllium has 20 calories per serving, while the same size serving of bread crumbs has 56 calories per serving. Psyllium, of cours, has more fiber per serving, with 5 grams of fiber, while bread crumbs only have less than 1 gram. This extra fiber content adds more bulk to your diet, reducing your chances of overeating as it can help you feel fuller.
